Information from the NC ARRL/ARES SEC
Skywarn ® is an NWS entity invented-by and operated-by NOAA/NWS.
The name "Skywarn ®" is a valuable intellectual property of the National Weather Service
(NWS) and is a Registered Trademark of that Agency. As such, the NWS controls the use of
their trademark and specifically allows/allocates the subsequent use thereof.
Skywarn ® encompasses a wide range of participants, one of which is Amateur Radio.
The ARRL has a current MOU with the NWS at the National level.
The NC ARRL/ARES/Skywarn ® policy as regards the cooperative NC activities is as stated in
the document
The NWS offices that encompass NC Skywarn ® activities are absolutely in-charge of their activities in NC and we only assist where designated, requested and directed.
Note that there is/are NO National "Skywarn ®" entities sanctioned by the NWS at any level.

Similarly, there is/are NO NC Statewide Skywarn ® entities sanctioned by the NWS at any level.
NONE.
All Skywarn ® activities in NC are associated with the applicable NWS offices whose jurisdictions encompass the NC Counties involved.

Also note that there are NO NWS Skywarn training courses or training entities approved or directed by the NWS, except for those explicitly designated, in writing, by the NWS.
THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO EXCEPTIONS.
