As a constituent, I am writing to invite you to attend our annual Field Day, a simulated emergency amateur radio operations event which will be held June 25-26 at (location). This annual event is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) as a way to test our ability to perform emergency amateur radio operations in field situations. This type of operation is very similar to the emergency operations we have provided in the past for governmental and non-governmental (American Red Cross) agencies, specifically after the mass devastation from Hurricane Katrina. Currently, Federal Communication Commission licensed amateur radio operators are providing emergency communications to several areas of our country, after the rash of horrible tornadoes and floods.

Amateur radio operators are volunteers, and provide these services to governmental agencies at no cost, and out of goodwill to the community. We also enjoy using our radio craft to help our fellow citizens.

I hope you will be able to attend this event, which is also an event with fun, food and fellowship.
